We are deeply saddened by the recent news concerning Pilgrim Community Church. Former Intern Pastor Sung Woo (Sam) Hong (2016-2019) has been charged with “aggravated sexual battery” according to the Fairfax County Police.
As leaders of Chara Community we wanted to express our grief and deep sorrow for this situation.
We pray for any affected families and children.
As a leadership group, Chara has worked functionally independent from Pilgrim Community Church since its founding in 2020. And although the current situation is prior to our formation, we believe it is important that we address the situation.
At Chara Community, we have continued to practice safe ministry practices. We will strive to maintain the safest environment possible for our congregation.
We ask for your prayers, justice for the affected and continued grace for our ministry. We trust in God through these difficult times and we encourage members to seek Him even more.
