DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
- “The basic point here is that God is not pleased if we elevate one aspect of what he requires of us as his people, while ignoring the rest.” Why is it so easy to excuse, or not even to notice, the elevation of just one aspect of what he requires?
- How has your view of justice changed as a result of reading this section?
- How can you reflect on the hesed shown to you at the cross in such a way that it will move you to do justice and love kindness?
- Did the idea of operating out of a “cost-benefit analysis” challenge you in any way? How?
- Have you experienced the truth that it is humility that leads to fulfillment?
- Do you ever live feeling that you need to perform to merit God’s positive verdict? Or that you need to hear a positive verdict from someone other than God (and if so, who)? How can Romans 8:1 change the way you feel and live?
