DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
- What do you make of the idea that judgment is compassionate?
- “The promise to Abram in Genesis 12:3 relies on God’s grace, not on humanity’s merit.” Why is this good news for each of us personally? What causes you to forget it?
- “It should not be a surprise that a loving God would judge, but it should be a surprise that he would find a way to forgive.” Does this truth surprise you? Should it? Why/why not, do you think?
- Do you struggle to accept your brokenness, or to live with boldness (or both!)? What would change if you remembered that you can live with “bold brokenness”?
- Can you see any ways in which a misunderstanding of how God treats you has caused an unhealthy relationship dynamic with someone close to you? What might change if you begin to repent honestly before God, and appreciate forgiveness from God?
- How has the book of Micah shaped: your view of who God is? your pursuit of kindness and justice?
